TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all services provided by Coombes Electrical
LTD (“we”, “our”, or “us”) to the client (“you” or “your”).
By requesting, accepting, or paying for our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Services
1.1 We provide electrical installation, maintenance, repair, testing, inspection, and related
services as agreed verbally or in writing prior to commencement.
1.2 Any descriptions, drawings, plans, or specifications are provided for guidance only and do
not form part of a binding contract unless expressly confirmed in writing.
1.3 We reserve the right to refuse, suspend, or withdraw from work where it becomes unsafe,
unlawful, impractical, or where payment obligations are not met.
2. Quotes and Estimates
2.1 All quotations are valid for 31 days from the date of issue unless stated otherwise in writing.
2.2 Quotes are based on the information available at the time. Any changes, omissions,
additional works, delays, or unforeseen requirements will be charged separately.
2.3 Where a fixed price has not been agreed, work will be charged at our standard hourly or
daily rates plus materials, call-out fees, and applicable taxes.
3. Deposits and Payments
3.1 We may require a deposit before scheduling work. The deposit amount will be confirmed in
writing.
3.2 Non-Refundable Deposits
Deposits secure your booking and cover costs incurred immediately upon acceptance,
including:
● Preparation of tailored quotations
● Scheduling and reserving labour and availability
● Ordering or reserving materials and equipment
● Administrative planning and coordination
Deposits are non-refundable, except where required by law.
3.3 Final payment is due immediately upon completion unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3.4 Late payments may incur interest at the maximum rate permitted by law, together with
reasonable recovery costs.
3.5 We accept payment by bank transfer, cash, or card.
3.6 Where staged payments are agreed, failure to pay on time may result in suspension of work.
3.7 Delays & Chargeable Time
Where works are extended due to delays outside our control — including third-party failures,
client-side issues, access restrictions, or changes in instructions — additional labour days and
associated costs shall be chargeable.
3.8 Recovery of Previously Unbilled Time
Where attendance, labour days, or extended time were incurred during the project but not
invoiced at the time (including as a goodwill gesture or to assist project progress), we reserve
the right to recover such costs where the project scope is varied, reduced, delayed, or
transferred to another contractor.
4. Scheduling and Access
4.1 All dates and times provided are estimates only. We are not responsible for delays caused
by site conditions, third-party dependencies, access issues, or changes to scope.
4.2 You must provide safe, clear, and uninterrupted access to the work area, including required
utilities.
4.3 Where access is unavailable or works by others are incomplete, we reserve the right to
charge for waiting time, aborted visits, or rescheduling.
5. Client Responsibilities
5.1 You are responsible for obtaining all required permissions, consents, or approvals unless
agreed otherwise in writing.
5.2 You must remove or protect personal belongings. We are not liable for damage to items not
removed.
5.3 You must disclose any known hazards, including asbestos, unsafe wiring, or dangerous
conditions.
5.4 You are responsible for coordinating other trades. We accept no liability for delays or costs
arising from the failure of others to complete their works.
6. Materials and Parts
6.1 All materials remain our property until paid for in full.
6.2 All materials supplied by us will be new, premium-quality, and sourced from reputable
suppliers in accordance with applicable standards.
6.3 Manufacturer warranties apply subject to their terms and correct usage.
6.4 We accept no responsibility for faults, delays, or warranty issues arising from client-supplied
materials.
7. Workmanship Guarantee
7.1 We guarantee our workmanship for 3 years from completion unless stated otherwise.
7.2 This guarantee excludes misuse, neglect, unauthorised alterations, normal wear and tear, or
work interfered with by others.
7.3 Warranty claims must be reported promptly and may require inspection prior to remedial
action.
7.4 If another contractor interferes with, alters, or completes any part of our work at any stage,
all workmanship guarantees are void.
7A. Transfer of Electrical Works & Contractor Change
7A.1 Where the client appoints another electrical contractor to take over part or all of the works
after we have commenced, this shall constitute a material variation or partial termination of
our contract.
7A.2 In such circumstances, the client remains liable for payment of:
● All labour and materials supplied up to the date of transfer
● Any delays, standby time, aborted visits, or extended attendance incurred
● Any additional labour days incurred during the project, whether previously invoiced or not
● Any time required for making safe, testing, documenting, or handing over our works
All outstanding sums become immediately due and payable.
7A.3 Where labour has been scheduled or reserved and subsequently rendered unnecessary
due to a contractor change, the client shall be liable for any resulting loss of booked labour that
could not reasonably be reassigned.
7A.4 From the point another contractor is engaged, we accept no responsibility for completion,
integration, compliance, or performance of works carried out by others.
7A.5 We will only certify works installed, tested, and completed solely by us. We will not certify
works altered, completed, or connected to by third parties.
8. Unforeseen Work & Additional Costs
8.1 If unforeseen issues arise (including hidden defects, unsafe installations, or third-party
failures), we will notify you promptly.
8.2 Any additional work or attendance required will be chargeable at the applicable rate.
8.3 We are not responsible for delays caused by unforeseen issues or third-party factors.
9. Property Damage & Existing Conditions
9.1 We are not liable for pre-existing defects or damage.
9.2 Any necessary incidental damage will be repaired at the client’s cost unless caused by our
negligence.

10.2 Waste disposal can be provided at an additional agreed cost.
11. Compliance & Certification
11.1 All work will comply with applicable regulations, including BS 7671.
11.2 Relevant electrical certification will be issued where applicable and only for works
completed by us.
12. Call-Outs & Emergency Work
12.1 Call-out fees include travel and the first 90 minutes on site unless stated otherwise.
12.2 Out-of-hours or emergency works may be charged at enhanced rates. If agreed in the
scope of works, and/or discussed.
13. Photographic Records
13.1 We may take photographs for quality, safety, or record-keeping purposes.
13.2 Marketing use will not include identifiable client details without consent.
14. Health & Safety
14.1 All work is carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation.
14.2 We may suspend work immediately where unsafe conditions are identified.
15. Cancellations
15.1 If the client cancels or reduces works after acceptance, they remain liable for:
● Materials purchased
● Labour and time incurred
● Any booked labour that cannot be reassigned

circumstances.
16. Liability
16.1 We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit or business.
16.2 Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific work.
16.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or
for fraud.
16.4 We accept no liability for faults, delays, or costs arising from electrical works carried out by
third parties.

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control,
including extreme weather, accidents, strikes, or supply shortages.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
